Felicity Nelson, Frogs and Stars’ Company Director, has experience crafting stories from highly technical information for a range of specialist and general audiences. She has designed marketing campaigns, written materials, websites, social media campaigns, webinars, podcasts and magazines. She has worked closely with a range of stakeholders, including CEOs, managing editors, general practitioners, rheumatologists, dermatologists, oncologists, allergy & respiratory physicians, researchers, corporate lawyers, publishers and editors. Cecilia Kwong, Consultant, splits her time between editing medical and science stories and stage managing major theatre productions with Opera Australia. During the COVID-19 pandemic Cecilia pivoted into editorial, working as a Clinical Content Producer at a magazine for medical professionals called The Medical Republic. In this role, she worked closely with a range of experts to produce longform clinical stories for general practitioners, rheumatologists, allergy and respiratory specialists and oncologists. She has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science from The University of Sydney with majors in History and Philosophy of Science and English, and a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts (Technical Theatre and Stage Management) from the National Institute of Dramatic Art. - cecilia.kwong@frogsandstars.com

As an external strategy consultant, Felicity worked with the CEO and Head of Marketing over six months to substantially grow the editorial team and launch a data journalism arm of the business, including recruiting and onboarding a specialist data analyst, a managing editor, GP editors and a team of freelance medical writers.

The Medical Republic
As COO of a publishing company based in Sydney, Felicity helped lead a team of around 20 people to deliver high-quality journalism to Australian doctors. Felicity was the lead product developer for several profit-generating new ventures, and hired, trained, managed and mentored employees to carry these projects forwards. This project work included launching a podcast, a webinar business, a live covid blog, a magazine for oncologists and a magazine for dermatologists. Felicity also oversaw the development and training of several specialist magazine editors and a new managing editor.

Oncology Republic
Felicity led the launch of a new magazine for Australian oncologists. She was involved in stakeholder engagement, editorial board recruitment, vision and strategy, web development, story idea generation, feature writing and project management. Felicity also spent a month training an experienced clinical editor to replace me on this magazine so she could focus on launching Dermatology Republic.

Rheumatology Republic
As Associate Editor for Rheumatology Republic, Felicity produced a print magazine and fortnightly newsletter for Australian rheumatologists. Felicity worked with Dr Irwin Lim, our rheumatologist editor, to create workflows that fitted around his busy schedule so the magazine could benefit from all his insights. Felicity attended international conferences for rheumatologists in Madrid and Chicago and interviewed leading doctors on their research and expertise. Felicity recruited, mentored, briefed and edited the work of a team of freelancers. She also spent three months recruiting and training my replacement so she could focus on launching Oncology Republic.
